The “Guangzhou Blue Book: Guangzhou City International Development Report 2014” was just published, and indicates that 50% of foreigners think that ‘Business Economy’ is Guangzhou’s more prominent feature.

The questionnaire was called “Guangzhou’s Impression Through Foreigners’ Eyes” and analysed the international perspective of Guangzhou. Respondents had an overall positive opinion of Guangzhou, for many reasons: mainly that it is friendly to the public, there are a lot of commercial development opportunities, it has an international atmosphere, is open and diverse, an attractive climate.

Some of the more negative responses reiterated Guangzhou’s bad traffic situation, its air pollution and noise.

80% of respondents said that overall impression of Guangzhou on foreigners is relatively good, including respondents from Western Europe. Respondents over 50 years old had the most positive impression of Guangzhou, with most indicating they perceived Guangzhou as ‘very positive’, while respondents between the ages of 20 and 30 perceived Guangzhou as ‘positive’.
