On August 18th, a new kind of travel agency called “One-Stop for All Your Travel Needs”, managed much like a franchised supermarket, will start servicing residents in Wuhan. The new travel agency is different from the traditional ones in that they offer products/tour routes designed by other travel agencies – customers can then look around and shop for tour packages best suited to them much like they would with shopping for home appliances at their local supermarket.

The new travel agency is not really an agency per se, because tour packages are not designed by the company but are brought in from other travel agencies for sale, much like a retailer would do with selling different merchandise. A staff member with the agency has said: “Our service is like a supermarket, suppliers put up their merchandise in our supermarket, and customers can pick and choose from the selection.” Customers can then sign up for the selected tour package with a third-party travel agency directly at the “One-Stop for All Your Travel Needs” store.
