Korean Airlines has announced that it will invite 300 Chinese travel agency personnel and media crew to travel to South Korea this month, in a bid to stimulate tourism. The effort is aimed at remedying the dip in tourism to the country caused by the MERS outbreak a month ago.
From July 13 to July 15, it is arranged that two-hundred personnel from the Chinese side will visit famous travel sites and tax-free shops in and around the Samcheong-dong area of Seoul. Another 100 of the group will have a free travel experience in Seoul and Jeju Island for four days, courtesy of Korean Airlines.

The months of July and August are the main months for tourism in South Korea, but tourist numbers have been unusually low due to the MERS outbreak that struck last month. The number of Chinese tourists to Jeju Island has dropped by 46% from last year, for example.

In addition to the above-mentioned efforts, South Korea has also canceled visa entry fees for travelers and extended their visa dates.

As for the MERS crisis, South Korea has announced that the worst of it is already over.
