South Africa’s Consul General to Shanghai Recalled for Public Streaking
Mar 13, 2013 By eChinacities.com

On March 10, Lassy Chiwayo, the South African Consul General to Shanghai stepped down from his post for health reasons, according to Clayson Monyela, South Africa’s International Relations on Cooperation Deputy Director General in Shanghai. However, two days later, Daily Telegraph reported that Chiwayo had in fact been recalled, following reports that he’d been seen wandering around his official residence in the buff on numerous occasions. A source close to the Daily Telegraph reported that Chiwayo had long been suffering from “mental health issues”, having previously disappeared for several days at a time only to be found walking around naked in the street, and also allegedly assaulting South Africa’s ambassador to China at an event in Beijing.
