Jun 12, 2009 By eChinacities.com

To alleviate traffic congestion in the west zone of Zhongguancun, six one-way streets will become two-way streets, and 15 streets will be relieved of left-hand or right-hand turn restrictions. At the same time, 35 sets of traffic lights will be scientifically planned and readjusted. Left-hand only or right-hand only traffic restriction has already been lifted on 11 roads.

At present, part of the transformation plan has already been implemented. Four one-way streets -- Haibeiyi Street, Haibei'er Street, Shanyuan Street and Haidiandong Street -- have already become two-way streets, and right-hand or left-hand turn restrictions have already been lifted on Caihefang Street and Shanyuan Street, among others. The time distribution of over 20 sets of traffic lights has been reorganized to have more efficient time intervals. In addition, traffic guidance signs have been set up in certain areas in the west zone where people easily get lost, to facilitate the travel of residents.
