Guangzhou's Liwan district government is preparing to build a history museum at the site of the Shi San Hang (十三行, thirteenth firm) export franchise building. Any people who have collected archives, photos, objects or stories pertaining to the Qing Dynasty site are now being encouraged to donate, according to Guangzhou Daily.

The only export gateway approved by the Qing government, the Shi San Hang was once a symbol of the prosperous export industry of Guangzhou. In 1850, Guangzhou ranked fourth among the most economically prosperous cities of the world.

The Han Town inside Wenhua Park has been proposed as the site of the museum, since it is the former location of the American Garden near the foreign commercial offices. As part of the permanent exhibit, movies would be shown to help citizens relive the glory of the past, and an open square featuring Guangzhou's trade history would be built inside the park.

In the Liwan district a road named after the Shi San Hang near Shangxiajiu Lu still bustles with a business-oriented atmosphere.
