The Shenzhen Futian Police have successfully taken down a criminal gang operating a major prostitution ring across Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Chengdu and Shenzhen, according to an official report on April 26.

About a month ago, the Huaqiang North police station in Futian District received a report that the "Lover’s Island" (情人岛) website, which claimed to be a dating website for registered members, was actually a prostitution service. The police learned that the site was registered to a Mr Chen, and through a bit of “cyber-magic” they were able to ascertain the location of Chen and another key player, “Sister Liu”, in Shenzhen’s Longhua district.

At 2:00 on April 26, the police raided the prostitution den and arrested Chen, Sister Liu, a network administrator and 17 women and their clients. After searching through all of the records on site, police found that Chen also managed similar websites in four other major cities, and that his operation had already taken in more than 10 million RMB. Sister Liu meanwhile was in charge of managing the women (20 in total), whose services cost between 600-1,000 RMB.
