In the early hours of May 19, Shenzhen police were called to the Longhua area after complaints and tip offs about prostitution in residential areas were called in by the general public.
The police arrested a total of 69 people including ‘admin staff’, customers and sex workers. There were so many people that there wasn’t enough space to hold them at the local police station and they had to commandeer a basketball court to hold the prisoners.
Apparently, since the recent crackdown in nearby Dongguan, there has been a sharp rise in prostitution in neighboring Shenzhen.
