A large block of land in Meilin may become the business center of the subdistrict in northern Futian District, a draft blueprint for the future use of the land showed.
Commonly called Meilin Samsung block, the land was the location of Shenzhen Saige Samsung Co. Ltd., which was formerly know as Shenzhen Zhonggang Glass Factory. Since the factory was dismantled Oct. 27, 2005, the 190,000 square meters of land has remained idle.
Few land of this size within the special economic zone remains undeveloped.
Opposite the headquarters of China Vanke and local retailer Rainbow's Meilin store, the land is expected to be dotted with high-rise commercial buildings to be used as offices, hotels and department stores.
A Metro station for Line 4 will be close to the land.
