Feb 20, 2010 By eChinacities.com

Shanghai's annual Yuyuan Garden Spring Lantern Festival opened on Feb. 14 and will run until Mar. 3. In line with the upcoming year of the tiger, there will be a special focus on tiger-themed lanterns. The path to the main event is lined with lanterns inspired by Haibao, the mascot for the 2010 Shanghai World Expo. Since Valentine's Day falls on Chinese New Year's Day, organizers have also added love-themed lanterns including some of them designed especially for Chinese Valentine's day. A number of other Chinese traditional lanterns are also featured, including Dragon Boat Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival ones.
