Pudong International Airport (PVG) and Hongqiao International Airport (SHA)
Shanghai has two international airports, Pudong International Airport (PVG) and Hongqiao International Airport (SHA). Pudong International Airport serves as an international gateway while Hongqiao handles domestic flights.
Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) is approximately 30 kilometers outside the city center, while Hongqiao International Airport is about 13 kilometers from Shanghai. Pudong currently serves more than 300 airlines from home and abroad that connect to more than 90 international and 60 domestic destinations.
Domestic-international transfer travelers and vice versa usually have to make their way from one airport to the other to complete their journey. Passengers transferring from a domestic to an international flight often have to travel from one airport to the other. Yingbing Highway (A1 Highway) and Outer Ring Road (A 20 Highway) both connect Pudong and Hongqiao Airport. The drive from one airport to the other is about 45 minutes. A shuttle service (30 RMB each way) connects the two airports, and the journey time is usually about an hour and a half. Shanghai Pudong International Airport also offers shuttle services to Jingan Temple (22 RMB), Zhongshan Park (30 RMB), Shanghai Railway Station (22 RMB), Galaxy Hotel (24 RMB), Hongkou Football Stadium (18 RMB), Shanghai South Railway Station (20 RMB) and Huinan Zhen (Nanhui University Area) (20 RMB).
Travelers can also commute to and from the airport on the Maglev Demonstration Line. It travels between Pudong International Airport and Longyang Road Metro Station in Pudong New District. It runs every day (Pudong Airport - Longyang Road, 7:02-21:42; Longyang Road - Pudong Airport, 6:45-21:40) at regular 15-minute intervals (before 19:00, 20 mins after 19:00), and the 30 kilometer journey takes only eight minutes. The fare is 50 RMB one-way (regular) and 100 RMB (first class), 80 RMB round-trip (regular) and 160 RMB (first class).
Travelers can also commute to and from the airport by taxi. But this can be a slow and costly option.

Hongqiao International Airport Transportation
Subway: Take Line 2 or 10 to Hongqiao Terminal 2 Station, this station has direct access to Terminal 2. Line 2 does not reach Hongqiao Airport Terminal 1. Flight information is displayed inside these subway cars. If you accidentally go to the wrong terminal, Hongqiao provides shuttle buses between the two terminals. These shuttles depart from Gate 6 at Terminal 1 (6:00-22:30) and Gate 1 at Terminal 2 (6:30-23:00) and run every 15 minutes.
Bus: Take Hongqiao hub bus 4, 9, the Airport Line or 941 to Hongqiao East Transport Center. This station provides transport to Zihu Science and Technology Park, Jiading West Railway Station Subway Station, Pudong Airport, Shanghai Railway Station, East Yan'an Road and the Bund.
