Shanghai Subway Lines 9 and 11 Open

The northern section of Shanghai subway’s new Line 11 began its first phase of trial operations on Dec. 31. The north end of the line starts from Jiading North Station in Jiading District and runs to Jiangsulu Station in Changning District. A total of 16 stations are open to traffic. They are Jiading North Station, Jiading West Station, Baiyinlu Station, Jiadingxincheng Station, Malu Station, Nanxiang Station, Taopuxincun Station, Wuweilu Station, Qilianshanlu Station, Liziyuan Station, Shanghaixizhan Station, Zhenru Station, Fengqiaolu Station, Caoyanglu Station (change to Line 3 or 4), Longdelu Station (change to the under-construction Line 13), Jiangsulu Station (change to Line 2). The highest speed of the line is 100km per hour, which makes it the fastest city subway in China. The running time is 9:00-16:00 and will be gradually adjusted to 5:30-23:00 during the three-month trial operation. Together with Line 11, the second phase of Shanghai subway Line 9 is also opening on the last day of 2009.
