The most anticipated movie so far this year – Avatar – opened in cinemas across China on Jan. 4th. The film has become an instant hit on the mainland. IMAX 3D is the best choice to watch the movie and long lines of people waiting to buy the tickets are seen outside most cinemas. On the morning of Jan. 7, the line was as long as one kilometer outside the Peace Cinema at Xizang Zhonglu, which is the only cinema with the IMAX screen. The line reached as far as Fuzhou Lu. People began to queue as early as 5am in the morning to get the tickets.
