Sex Tape is Latest Twist in GlaxoSmithKline Corruption Scandal
Jun 30, 2014 By eChinacities.com

It has emerged that the investigation into the British pharmaceutical giant that got into trouble earlier this year for handing out huge bribes, was sparked by a sex tape featuring a high level manager at the company.

Mark Reilly, a manager at GSK, has been implicated in a sex tape that was filmed covertly in his Shanghai flat. The former China head was filmed having sex with his girlfriend; the footage was taken without his knowledge or consent.

The video was sent anonymously to senior GSK executives in March last year and its existence was confirmed on Sunday. The identity of the person who leaked it however, remains a mystery.

Reilly, who was formally charged with corruption last month, has been barred from leaving China. If he is found guilty, he will face decades in prison.

The scandal, in which GSK was charged with handing out over 3 billion RMB in bribes, has significantly damaged the company’s reputation and sales, to the point that they are considering withdrawing from the Chinese market.

This is the biggest corrupt British company. They do corruption globally. I think these British has no dignity. They want more and more, so greedy. In April, GSK said it was investigating allegations the company hired government-employed doctors and pharmacists in Iraq as paid sales reps for its products. The pharma also said it is investigating allegations of bribery in Jordan and Lebanon. In Poland, GSK is facing a criminal probe for allegedly bribing doctors between 2010 and 2012. Prosecutors said last month they have evidence of illegal payments to 13 health centers. Thirteen people have been charged by Poland's anti-corruption bureau.
