Severe Penalties for Running Red Lights and Drunk Driving in Shenzhen

Shenzhen has released a draft for traffic safety penalties. Committing any of the ten acts including running the red light for the second time will result in a minimum fine of 1000 RMB. Driving after consuming drinking alcohol will result in a 5000 RMB fine, and the maximum penalty for drunk-driving will be 10000 RMB. The maximum fine of having fake number plates will be 50000 RMB. They are the harshest traffic safety penalties in China. Running the red lights in other Chinese cities may lead to fines less than 200 RMB and drunk-driving is fined between 500 RMB to 2000 RMB.
