According to analysis of traffic information on Sept 17th, the evening traffic jam lasted until about 21 o’clock, which was one hour later than usual. “This is the result of a series of factors, one of which is that there are more than 4.5 million motor vehicles in Beijing,” a leader in Beijing’s Traffic Control Department said frankly. It is hard to solve the ensuing problems caused by the rapid growth of motor vehicles, despite the increase in traffic police involved in controlling the flow of traffic.
