Sanya hotel prices have ballooned in the run up to Spring Festival, with some hotels increasing prices to up to 24 times the usual rate.
A report released on February 6 by the Global Hotel Reservations website shows that the prices in Sanya have swollen ridiculously high, making it the most expensive city to stay in throughout China during Spring Festival.
Most hotels are also making a minimum star of 2-4 days a requirement.
Hotels such as the Ritz-Carlton and the Jinmao Hilton have doubled their prices, while the three-star Tropical Island Hotel has increased its price 24-fold to 1576 RMB from 62 RMB earlier in the month.
Meanwhile, hotel prices in big cities such as Chengdu, Wuhan and Shanghai have actually dropped by about 20-30 percent for the Spring Festival season.
