Running a Yellow Light in Wuhan is Considered a Traffic Violation
May 03, 2012 By eChinacities.com

Recently, in Jiaxing City (Jiangsu Province), the verdict was announced for China's first administrative lawsuit against the traffic control department brought by a driver who'd been fined for running a yellow light. The driver lost the case and the outcome of the trial has since sparked heated debate online, with many Wuhan car owners asking, "Is it illegal to run a yellow light now?" In response, the local traffic control department stated that according to stipulations, when the light has turned yellow, only vehicles that are already in the middle of the intersection may continue, and that others should wait behind the line for the light to turn green. Consequently, vehicles that drive through a yellow light are committing a traffic violation and will be fined the same as if they drove through a red light.
