A group of foreigners drinking on the Shanghai subway were caught on camera swinging from hand holds, spilling beer on the subway floor, and flashing passengers. The video, posted Sunday evening, shows the foreigners spilling foam from their beer on the floor. One of the woman pulls down a man’s pants revealing his underwear, and men swung from the hand holds like monkeys.
Chinese passengers said they did not understand the foreigner’s behavior. Many said asked how foreigners would react if Chinese people acted like this on their metro.
The video of the rowdy foreign crew was recorded on September 6. Shanghai metro representatives said that all passengers should comply with public order and morals. Even though this kind of behavior does not put others in danger, subway staff must try to stop this kind of uncivilized behavior.

I don't know why people are getting into a tizz about this. echinacities has never been a news site and is about as far from informative journalism as you can get. This site merely stirs the pot with whatever trash it thinks may cause a reaction and we foreigners get well and truly sucked in by responding and perpetuating these 'stories'. Personally, stories of foreigners behaving badly are highly amusing for me. I find myself thinking, cool. Well done! Why should we bother feeling maligned or singled out as foreigners? Do we have anything to learn about civility or socialisation from the Chinese? Of course not, the very idea is ludicrous!

C'mon, .. we all know that China is the epitome of double standards, but this is not cool. No-one has to die for people to be inconvenienced. Call it what it is, - obnoxious and out-of-order. If this happened back home, we'd quite possibly confront the pissheads. 7 years on and I'm of the opinion that it may be best for foreigners to grow the fuck up before going abroad.

agree on the back home confrontation comment. however over here the confrontation thing can be a fast track to a war. case in point: i objected to a bunch of rowdy drunk chinese guys in a western hotel bar on new years eve 321st december because they had a teenage kid and were causing too much noise. it almost turned into a mass brawl. so confrontation in this place is not the way leading to people to behave like selfish idiots.

I see locals swearing, shouting, kicking, fighting, and slamming things on tables and chairs every single night. Because they are not the same as locals, this is big news. I really don't think it is correct to highlight bad behavior of any particular human being because this should not reflect the whole. However when this kind of thing is shown and different people start drawing up conclusions, I feel like I really want to start taking videos of their own kind doing the exact same things, or worse. I was very pleased when we saw the article of the local government helping a foreigner recover his apartment deposit and rent money for a fake apartment. This was a step in the right direction. Now the news here on this site has taken a few steps back by posting this nonsense. Oh and one more thing, it is never cool to behave like a neanderthal, no matter where you are from. In another country, one really should keep the alcohol consumption to an acceptable level, if not for complying with the laws, at least to protect one's self from being cheated or robbed after one becomes too drunk to control one's normal and acceptable actions.

Hello, I dont think its right to defend these senseless acts from some of our brothers and sisters, wrong is wrong and right is right. How on earth can you do this in UK or US? We have to be truthful, no matter how you may hate some of the things the chinese does in their country, this is senseless because you cant do this in any country. One question I will like to ask the security at the metro station, were they asleep when these guys went on the metro? Please as foreigners lets learn to comport ourselves, if you cant please you have a very nice way out, when its good say it and when its bad say it. No one is forcing anyone to stay in china so if you feel uncomfortable here pack yourself out. I think we should have known by now china will not change because of us so better get used to it or you know what to do.

In the US it isn't legal to drink in public, in China it is legal or it seems legal since i often see locals drinking in public. So this isn't really different than all those annoying kids swinging on the handles and kicking and running into people, while their parents or grandparents sit by and just allow it to happen without caring.

I saw a black land rover pull up at the side of the road the other night. All four occupants got out and pissed and spewed everywhere. This included the driver who was also vomiting and obviously highly intoxicated. After expelling liquids they all got back in the car and swerved off down the street. I should've got my phone out and recorded it.
