Regulations Issued to Make Waters Clean and Clear

Regulations have been issued to make Guangzhou waters clean and clear. According to the regulations, a maximum of RMB 30 thousand shall be fined against whoever pollutes waters through littering or by the deposit of human waste.

 

Waterside businesses, as well as organizations, shall be responsible for pollution caused to the section of riverlets where they are located. So far, a team of 80 members has been organized, by the bureau for collection of information, concerning improvements and management of the riverlets.

Additionally, under the terms of the regulations, sanitary facilities, including temporary toilets, shall be established on construction sites and on/or near waters, including rivers, river lets, lakes and reservoirs. Backfill shall be removed in time so that muddy waters shall be disposed before being discharged. In addition, waterside restaurants and booths built in ways that do not meet the regulations cited for urban areas shall be demolished.
