Record Numbers Pass Through Shanghai Train Stations Trying to Go Home

Shanghai’s three train station saw record numbers of passengers pass through their doors on January 27 as people tried to go home for Chinese New Year. Shanghai Hongqiao station handled 165,800 passengers, while Shanghai Railway station and Shanghai South station dealt with 129,000 and 79,000 respectively. The ministry of transport believes numbers could top 1 million a day over the next few days as people try to make it home for Chinese New Year’s Eve on Thursday evening.
