Putin’s Creepy Stare Gets Chinese Media Attention

Putin’s Creepy Stare Gets Chinese Media Attention
May 22, 2014 By eChinacities.com

A photo of Putin eyeing up a pretty waitress wearing a traditional Chinese dress has been captured and posted online by Chinese media outlets. The moment was captured during the welcome dinner of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence in Shanghai. Putin looked considerably distracted as the server poured water for the guests, staring unblinkingly with what Chinese media described as a ‘mad stare’. He then went on to toast the pretty girl in front of him.

During the visit, Putin met former Chinese leader, Jiang Zemin, but it hasn’t been revealed who initiated the meeting. Putin’s strange expression led the media to draw comparisons with this photo of the former Chairman:

What's creepy there? He is barely having a glance at a pretty girl, actually in some other countries they would wonder "Why is Putin so shy? "

"what Chinese media described as a ‘mad stare’ " So what would be a 'normal stare'?

In Russia we do it as a sign of politeness to look at the person who serves you, not ignoring and treating them as slaves as they do it here in China. I don't think he was staring at her for 5 minutes, just a split of a second (picture was taken at the right moment) and wow what a breaking news!

Yeah, that's what I think. I always say thank you to the servers and try to be polite too. Funny how Chinese always try to turn things into, "everyone else is weird not us!" My friend was starting up a restaurant in China and went to a market to buy some industrial type kitchen equipment. He was looking at one with a few sales people hanging him and asked "So which parts usually break down and how often?" The Chinese thought it would be clever to mocking answer "You buy the parts that break when they breakdown..." My friend replied, "If I do that, then it take you guys like 3 weeks to get it to me and then I can't make business during that time, it is smarter to buy spare parts ahead of time to avoid that..." They just all looked confused. They don't understand simple politeness and problem prevention.

Yes maybe he is being polite. Many Chinese treat servers badly so they may not understand simply acknowledging a waitress, or god forbid, granting her a smile.

I'll let some friends take photos of local Chinese people staring at me. Then I'll send it to the newsmedia and wait for the outrage over the abject rudeness displayed. It's probably best not to hold my breath, though. ;-)

He's human. When humans see beautiful things, they like to look at them. So what? It's not like he grabbed her ass or something... Sometimes it is good to know these guys are just human and not the things the media tries to build them up to be...
