Ah privacy in China; does it ever get any better than this? A photo recently appeared on Weibo of a first floor restroom facility at Huaqiao University’ Institute of Technology in Xiamen that features wall-to-ceiling windows, making people doing their business completely visible to those passing by outside.

Obviously, many netizens were critical of the apparent lack of privacy with the facilities, as one could inadvertently watch a man relieve himself into a urinal on their way to class. Although there wasn’t a picture, it was later discovered that the women’s restroom was also completely visible from the outside, though both facilities still have sectioned off squat toilets.

According to Wu Qingnian, the Office Director of the institute, “the photo on the internet exaggerates the situation. In fact, the publicly visible facilities are currently closed, as we haven’t got a lot of students right now in the school. Come September when new students arrive, we’ll stick up frosted glass so no one can see inside.”
