As Shenzhen holds the Universiade, police have recently been continuously cracking down on various "anti-social" activities that have been going on. As part of the crackdown, a large number of prostitutes and their clients from Hong Kong have been arrested and locked up in jails in Shenzhen, where many of their family members have come to visit them. During this crackdown, most of Shenzhen's entertainment areas have "repented", and as a result, the mainland prostitutes, who are trying to make a living, are going down to Hong Kong to look for work. Sources said police will continue to crackdown on prostitution until after National Day.
