A portrait taken in Chengdu by Romanian photographer Michaela Noroc for her website The Atlas of Beauty has gone viral on the Chinese internet. Noroc travels and takes portraits of women to show the diversity of beauty around the world.
The portrait taken in Chengdu was captioned “Bright Night in Chengdu, China.” The Sichuanese woman in the picture is Zhang Ran, 27. Zhang operates a clothing store in Leshan. “Everyone’s thoughts on beauty are different,” said Zhang, “I usually give myself about 70 points [out of 100].”
Zhang said that she had never posed for an HD portrait like Noroc’s and actually was not that happy with it. “My standard passport photos are usually better than this. I have other photos of myself that I like a lot better,” she said. She said that the photo was taken at night, the light was not good, and that she had just returned to Chengdu from Tibet so she looked tired.”
Noroc’s photos have made Zhang popular online, but also brought her some trouble and harassment online. She deleted everything off of her Weibo page that had personal information on it. “It is not really that important to be whether I am popular or not,” said Zhang. She hopes that everything will calm down and she will be able to continue with her life.
A foreigner commented on the photo on The Atlas of Beauty’s Facebook page. “I never understood why Chinese women try to change their looks with plastic surgery to be close to the so-called Western standard, they are very beautiful as they are, different, that is true, but from that difference comes the beauty.”

I give her 50 out of 100 comparing Chinese perfect beauty. And i'm sure she looks the same in the day light. Meanwhile she could be even at 150 cm height. then in case that she is shorter than 163 cm I give her 30 out of 100. I'm not going the same line for other parts, which might lessen the score to Zero.

I am a trainer and a MMA coach ..and you cant imagine how many starved women come and ask me they want to loose more weight...its just dumb...basically the idea of "loosing weight" is plainly dumb even if you weigh 120 kgs.. instead of being fit they want to loose whats left of their muscle by going on military diets for weeks...well guess what...after that they are so weak that when they find a guy, they have zero sex drive, no stamina and are mentally so tired that they cant keep the relationships. thats when the guys go to massage parlours and prostitutes, so its a loose loose for them in all scenarios. secondly how does being white become beautiful?...its basically unhealthy to starve oneself from the sun.. why is that darker skinned individuals are genetically more strong that lighter skinned ones, however for chinese its the other way round..there is a reason why all the top athletes are black...i swear i had a swedish friend visit me..she was so white that actually felt pale (dead person pale)...and not exactly whatone would say good looking...but on the bund...groups of people wanted to pay her to take pictures with them...

well chinese standard of beauty is strange....she has to be white as a printer paper..and flat as Sh**... dropped flat asses and no boobs...honestly who would want to get married to a mentally ( bitch/child syndrome) retarded and on top of that a physically ( flat ass and tooth pick legs AKA clothes on a hanger) challenged girl who is starving herself to loose more weight...they want independence...well you cant be independent unless you can carry your own damn weight(especially bag). their idea of independence is running away from responsibilites , sleep all day and roam around in shopping malls no questions asked.. I agree with @ RANDOMGUY, the physical beauty fades away and you are left with whats inside. I was dating a venezuelan + russian girl...really nice person, and textbook hot..amazing body and one of the most beautiful girls i have ever met, but after 6 months she was just a girl for me...its what was inside that mattered.

actually i agree... xinjiang people and dongbei people are quite attractive... xinjiang girls are hot..mainly because most of them are mixed..some look like Kazaks, some russians and some pakistani's...
