Hong Kong Police started to clear out the barricades at the Occupy Central camp today, December 11, with warnings that protesters that fail to clear the area by 11:00 today may face arrest.

Hong Kong radio has reported that there are over 3,500 police officers on standby to assist in the clearance as needed, and according to the Sing Tao Daily, over 7,000 officers have received notice to be prepared to fully mount guard and carry out the injunction to clear the site.

The workers employed to take down the barriers have met with little resistance so far, according to the South China Morning Post.

The occupied zone in Admiralty had already begun to clear out by December 9, leaving behind a large number of barricades and many individuals clearing out the tents of the long-term occupiers. The atmosphere remains defiant however, with many of the occupiers leaving the slogan ‘ We Will be Back’ scrawled on the floor, on banners and even carried into the air by helium balloons.
