Plans to Build ETC Lanes for Shaanxi Expressways Are in Full Operation
Mar 26, 2010 By eChinacities.com

Transportation and Logistics Department of Shanxi Province has announced plans to build 23 new toll booths and more than 50 ETC (electric toll collection) lanes within the year for all Shaanxi expressways – initiating transition to a no-stop toll collection system in the near future.

In 2009, a no-cash toll collection system was completed for all Shaanxi expressways; the first ETC lane was put to trial use for the Airport Expressway and has been a success. In 2010, officials have plans to increase the density of ETC lane distribution in expressways around Xi'an and major entrances and exits to other cities in Shaanxi. Officials have ordered that all expressways currently in operation in Shaanxi are to finish transition into a no-stop toll collection system by the end of July this year and that all expressways currently under construction are to be fitted with ETC lanes when it opens to traffic.
