Jul 07, 2010 By eChinacities.com

At 18:16 on July 5th, a train on Shanghai’s Metro Line 2 was leaving the Zhongshan Park station and in the process of closing its doors, when a middle-aged female passenger tried boarding the train at the last minute. The woman’s arm was caught in between the doors. When the train had started to move she was slammed against the guard rails and fell to her death.

Officials with the metro company confirmed the accident and indicated that investigations were underway. Metro officials again warned passengers to take caution when riding the subway, and to refrain from forcefully trying to board trains while the doors are being closed.
