Over 2,000 Pharmacists Caught Cheating on Exams in Xi’an

Xi’an, not too far from where a man laced his noodles with opium, was central to a huge drug problem of a different kind: over 2,000 pharmacists were found cheating on their national pharmacist comprehensive tests, Want China Times reports. Whoops.

Exam organisers and the police have uncovered two cheating rings who made use of abnormal and illegal wireless radio signals set at 140 MHz, transmitting answers through a special system.

The exams are important as only those who pass can get a license to set up a pharmacy. The cheaters will have to face serious repercussions; having their exam papers destroyed and a ban from taking the exam for the next two years.

High pressure on students means that China is unfortunately no stranger to high-tech cheating methods, like when these students used James Bond style cheating tactics on their university entrance exams.

2000 caught cheating, just for the pharmacist and just in Xi'an, it's not even a relatively big city. How many people are cheating in the entire country ?
