Thirty-one top Chinese musicians launched a music project in Shenzhen yesterday to promote the development of the city’s original music.

The delegation was comprised of song writers, producers and performers who have created many well-known songs since China’s reform and opening up. Shenzhen will cooperate with the Chinese Association of Musicians for the Chinese Music Project from 2009 to 2013, which aims to promote original music and establish a music base in China. The project includes a series of national musical events, establishment of several music studios and new preferential policies for professional musicians.

The national top music award, the 7th Chinese Golden Bell Award for Music, will also be presented in Shenzhen in September, along with an international music week and a national symphony concert for the 60th anniversary of the founding of New China on Oct. 1.
