Old Man Throws Girl out of Seat, Cites Handicap

Old Man Throws Girl out of Seat, Cites Handicap
Jun 19, 2015 By eChinacities.com

An old man on a bus in Wuhan showed that he still has some strength in his bones when he aggressively pulled a younger girl up out of her seat and took it for his own.

The old man, who wanted the seat for himself, claimed to have a leg handicap that necessitated him sitting there. His temper was quickly set off when the girl in the seat ignored him by staring at her phone and a spectacle ensued.

Ironically the seat of interest was one of the ones in the front designated for weak or disabled passengers, but the display of strength by the old man doesn’t quite seem to fit the bill for a person that would need such a seat. To the surprise of many passengers, there were even other seats available on the bus.

In contrary to the man’s supposed handicap, video footage from the bus showed that he walks and moves around like a normal person.

While it is still possible that he suffers from a handicap, it remains clear that his legs at least seem to function quite normal.

Some handicaps are mild enough to remain unnoticeable at a casual glance, automatically assuming the girl being the victim has something to do with cultural programming....

If the man was old, then the girl should have offered her seat. But I can't see why the man couldn't politely ask the woman to move. Although manners are not a strong quality of the Chinese race. They really are a totally different species. I often see old people standing on the bus and nobody wants to let them sit down, it's despicable. No respect for the elderly in this society. But this certainly isn't the way to earn respect either, but maybe he was tired and frustrated.

It's dog eat dog everywhere in public in China and people (barely) make concessions, have manners and a sense of civility toward their blood relatives. No generalized sense of civic duty

I feel that's what everyone in the Beijing subway wants to do... but they just contain themselves lol. They all have that passive aggressive look on their faces when you're sitting down.

It was a disabled seat. The girl should have stood up and moved to another open seat. Regardless of disability, age qualifies the man to get the seat. Both the old man and the girl were being rude here.

Yup, neither of them is the victim here. Both are just rude, arrogant, ignorant folk just looking out for themselves.
