A local film studio’s "Old Chongqing" sets were recently opened to the public as a new tourist attraction. To many visitors, the locations will seem very familiar—nearly 30 TV series have been filmed here, and the studio hopes that these "Old Chongqing" sets will become one of Chongqing’s biggest tourist attractions.

The Old Chongqing Film and Television Studio is located in the Baisha historical town in the Jiangjin District. The area is surrounded by more than 20 historical sites from the Sino-Japanese war. The Baisha Chaotianju port, an old and well preserved port on the Yangze River is another popular site. The streets are paved with black brick and grey tiles, there are numerous diaojiaolou (houses on "stilts" along the riverbank built by the Miao ethnic minority) and there is an impressive Guild Hall to see. Adding to the feel of an "Old Chongqing", rickshaws are still often used, and Qipaos can be seen drying in the windows of the old buildings. Such attention to detail really gives the visitor the feeling that they have just travelled back in time!
