Need a bike to do a quick shop, get to work everyday, or do some exercise? Well now instead of purchasing one, for it only to be stolen a few weeks later, you can borrow one from the city. Shenzhen’s Luohu District has set up public bicycle stations, with 1,000 bikes, of which 800 are city bikes and 200 are mountain bikes.

So how do the fees work, you ask. Well for the first 2 hours it is 1 RMB p/h. You will have to leave a 300 RMB deposit though. Foreigners should use their passports for ID purposes and provide an address. The procedure is similar to renting a car.

To set up the card you can either go to the Huangbei Jie agency (1 Jinger Lu, telephone number 07552543 5231, or you can go to the Liantang Jie agency (152 Guocheng Lu, 0755 2570 0090).
