On October 12th, smoking was banned in all taxis in Nanchang, according to Nanchang Centre for Chronic Disease Control and Prevention. No-smoking signs will be posted inside taxis and neither the driver nor the passengers will be permitted to smoke inside. According to the draft of Nanchang Regulations on Urban Taxis released this May, taxi drivers are required to dress properly, use respectful language and not smoke inside the taxis. Drivers found violating these rules will be fined 20-50 RMB. Also, the taxi driver may ask the passenger to get out of the taxi if they start smoking.
