New Policy Warns Chinese Teachers Against Physical and Sexual Harassment
Feb 08, 2014 By eChinacities.com

On January 26 China’s Ministry of Education published a new policy protecting the rights of students against their teachers. The policy contains new rules on physical and sexual harassment and includes eight other violations. Teachers found breaching this policy are liable to a warning, a demotion and, in extreme case, expulsion.

Wait a minute. According to this article, the ONLY punishment for sexually harassing a student is a "warning, a demotion and, in extreme case, expulsion?" Wow! I knew China was a safe-haven for pedophiles, but I didn't realize how relaxed the punishment was. In the USA, you would immediately be terminated even before the allegations were proven true and you would also be facing prison time for child endangerment, sexual abuse or even statutory rape! Geez, no wonder the sickos come to China to teach.

It seems they lumped physical (violence) and sexual harassment into one law, here. What about all the traditionalists that still use a cane to beat students? No one will be able to tell what they were punished for.

With this new policy the little emperors and princesses will now be promoted to demigod status. I am sure plenty of these kids will take advantage and abuse the policy. So what about implementing a policy to protect the teachers from being harassed by students? Will it happen? Doubt it.

Everything is just a show in this country. Their way of thinking will crush whatever accomplishments they have. A lot to get used to.

In-force.... Is this a something to do with star wars? Enforce is something that means someone would have to give a shit about the law. This is China, not 'law enforced town with laws to enforce land' .... PS.. I have no faith in the system of law, freedom or rights in China because they are flaunted and abused on a daily bases or as some people tell me online but never to my face, I am just an arsehole cause I am cynical

Nah, I was being sarky myself. Whenever there's a law rule here, people with clout/guanxi/family can still get away with murder. People lower down in the hierarchy will be punished too harshly, publicly humiliated and made an example of, so the police can show: "Look, we're doing our job well."
