Despite the affects of the global financial crisis, a new low-rent wholesale shoe market will open in Guangzhou's Panyu by the end of March. Situated in the Luopu Commercial Zone, the Lingnan Shoe Mall covers an area of 100,000 square meters with more than 1,000 booths.

Currently there are 12 wholesale shoe markets in Guangzhou, concentrated mainly around the Guangzhou Railway Station – especially at Huanshi Xi Lu and Zhanxi Lu. The location makes it very convenient for wholesale buyers and individual costumers to compare goods.

However, a 10-square-meter booth in that area rents for 20 to 30 thousand yuan (2922.4 to 4383.7 USD), whereas a 25-square-meter booth at the new Lingnan Shoe Mall is priced at only 675 yuan (98.6 USD).
