New Hutong Scenic Route to Open in Beijing's Hutong Area
Nov 13, 2009 By eChinacities.com

The road running from Dazhalan to Liulichang Culture Street is set for completion in 2010 and will form a tourist leisure corridor of 1.5 km. Tourists can walk all the way from Dazhalan to Liulichang to experience the Hutong culture in Beijing.

The newly re-opened Dazhalan in Qianmen is one of Beijing’s oldest commercial streets, whose history can be traced back to 600 years ago. The surrounding hutongs of this famous street are also rich in historical worth. With the new road linking up Dazhalan and Liulichang Culture Street, visitors will be able to use a convenient and easy route to experience the area’s vibrant history and culture.

How to get there: Bus no. 819, 826, 744, 729 and 120 all stop at Dashilan’er. Cars and taxis are not allowed in Dashilan’er Street so it’s best to get off nearby and walk there by foot.
Alternatively take subway Line 2 to Qianmen, exit C. Cross the road by walking under the subway pass and continue westwards for about 5 minutes.
