In a bid to increase safety, and beautify the historic avenue, the white safety barriers in Changanjie have been replaced with new reinforced gold ones from Fuxingmen to Jianguomen. According to the manufacturer, if a car crashes into the barrier, the barrier can automatically bounce back to its original position, making it far more resilient than the current safety rails.
The barriers have been painted gold and are decorated with golden lotus flowers to make the safety rails more ‘auspicious’ and ‘beautiful’.
