The new Beijing North Railway Station has six floors above ground and two floors underground. Besides the waiting area on the first floor, passengers can also go through the two underground passages to first floor underground which has a larger area than the first floor above ground. There are commercial service area, toilets and an area offering boiled water on the north of the first floor underground. Ticketing halls are at the east and west side of pulling-in entrance.

As one of Beijing’s four major railway stations, the new station has an area 4 times bigger than the old one. And a total of 4.5 million passengers can travel through the new station, far more than the 910,000 daily passenger limit of the old station. The waiting hall can hold as many as 5,000 passengers now.
