Nanjing: Workers' Salary Negotiations Spark Violent Conflict, Many Injured
Dec 17, 2010 By eChinacities.com

At approximately 8:00 AM yesterday morning in the Jiangning district of Nanjing, a conflict erupted in front a building in which several dozen workmen clashed with “fully-armed” security personnel associated with a building developer wearing steel helmets and brandishing shields. Arm and torso injuries were sustained in this incident in which seven or eight workmen were sent to the hospital as a result. The workers said that they had come to negotiate pay salaries; meanwhile, the developers expressed that the funds for construction have already been committed towards building and that this conflict between  their commitment to build against the sub-contractors has produced an economic dilemma, and as such has brought disaster to them.
