More than 20,000 People Sneak on to Shanghai Subway Every Day

According to a report released by CCTV, more than 20,000 people sneak on to the Shanghai subway system without a ticket every day. With more than 6.7 million daily subway commuters in Shanghai, these freeloaders represent a considerable economic loss. Accordingly, Shanghai Metro and the police have launched a special campaign to crack down on this problem. According to subway regulations, passengers who are caught sneaking under turnstiles or using fake cards will be fined five times the ticket value.
