Mobile Payment Now Available for China Mobile Users in Beijing

China Mobile’s 20 million Beijing users can now upgrade their SIM cards to RFID ones (radio frequency identification enabled) which allow users to use their phones pay in over 300 Wumei and Meilianmei supermarkets, where they will also be able to charge money into their mobile accounts. A plan to allow users to pay subway fares with their mobile phones is also in the works. China Unicom in is also seeking to promote a mobile payment system in Beijing.
