Mining Official Suspended After Airport Outburst

Mining Official Suspended After Airport Outburst
Feb 28, 2013 By eChinacities.com

In what has become something of an on-going series here of “bizarre behavior at Chinese airports”, a mining official from Yunnan was recently suspended after security cameras caught him throwing a temper tantrum at Kunming Airport. The offender in question, Yan Linkun, was seen smashing computers, throwing chairs, and generally causing a ruckus.

It was said that Yan had arrived late at the airport for a flight to Shenzhen, which he’d already had to rebook, failing to turn up for another flight earlier that day. Upon being told he was unable to board the plane, Yan lost it, screaming at airport security staff, “How can this happen to a me twice!” before he absolutely Hulked out and went on the aforementioned smash ‘n’ bash tirade.

The incident comes amidst a whole series of online reports of officials behaving badly, which have led to widespread public outrage and calls for tougher disciplinary measures for such incidents. Yan has subsequently released an apology, expressing his regret at his childish behavior, offering to compensate for the equipment he destroyed.
