Metro Line 7 to Connect With Metro Line 2 in Foshan

According to project plans presented for the expansion of rail transport between Guangzhou and Foshan in 2009, Metro Line 7 is to connect with Line 2 in Foshan. Currently, the two cities are working in concert and according to officials in charge of the project, in addition to Line 2, Lines 1,5,6,7 and 8 in Foshan will also be connected to metro lines in Guangzhou. Metro Line 7 in Guangzhou, will join Line 2 in Foshan at the newly-built railway station in Guangzhou that is expected to be put into service in 2010.

Officials said that, based on the transport networks in Guangzhou and Foshan, seven rail lines will be built that will connect Foshan with Baiyun District, the downtown area, the new railway station, the Panyu Shiqiao and Nansha District. Four of the seven rails will run through downtown Foshan.
