Man Tries to Divorce Wife for Setting Curfew, Denied by Court

A Chinese man married for 22 years recently tried and failed to file for divorce from his wife after she implemented a set of strict house rules that dictated how late at night he could stay out.

47 year old Liu, and his wife Xu married in 1993, and had a daughter in 1995. The family had a happy, easy life together. Liu's daughter was admitted to several prestigious universities upon graduating high school.

However, this May, Liu filed for divorce from his wife. He said that he was willing to give up everything to his wife and daughter and just wanted to be free of his family. Why the sudden urge to flee? Liu said that his wife had developed a number of house rules that he simply could not live with.

Xu's most hated rule was her insistence that Liu must return home before 11 pm. If he came any later, she would try to lock him out of the house. Liu would often come home late, and they would get into huge arguments. Over time, Liu “felt that life was meaningless,” as he and wife continued to torture each other.

Xu acknowledged that her rule was a bit over the time, but she said that she only put it into place because of her love for her husband. Liu often worked late into the night, and was in poor health, with high blood sugar. “I was thinking about his health, and was scared that it was bad for him to stay up late all the time.”

The court said that Liu and Xu had a good emotional foundation, but they fought every day because of poor communication and lack of mutual understanding. The court said that if the two sides strengthened their mutual tolerance and trust, they could still thrive as a couple.

Xu did not agree to divorce her husband, and Liu failed to provide evidence that the two no longer love each other. Therefore, the court denied Liu his request for a divorce.

He is not savvy enough. He should have made life impossible to her, so she is the one filing for divorce.

Hardly matters if he has a key or not. Most Chinese houses have an lock on the inside of the front door, which basically locks the other person out, regardless of their keys.

HAHAHAHA. If that's not sarcasm, which I'm assuming it is, your life is f****d. She's trying to prevent him from staying out late and buying hookers, trying to forget the huge mistake he made by marrying such a wretched, jealous, and controlling troll in the first place.
