A man from Wuhan, Hubei Province used an internet chat site to meet a woman, and gain her information with the sole intention of raping her. The man’s modus operandi was to pretend to be a woman, befriend another woman who would open up to him, and then use this information to go to her house.

21 year old Liu was the unfortunate victim of this disgusting scam. She met a ‘girl’ on the chat site called ‘W’ and quickly became friends with her. They exchanged numbers and addresses and shared openly. One night a man came to her front door and said he was W’s brother and that W had found a new job and they should all go out and celebrate. As soon as she opened the door for the man he walked inside, and shut the door.

The culprit was quickly tracked down and arrested, after which he divulged about his tactics. He said that he once met a man on the street who was posing as a woman in order to meet other woman, because, “girls talk to girls more easily, and you can find out their personal information.”
