Live music at Shenzhen International Airport

Live music at Shenzhen International Airport

From April 10, musicians from the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra will be performing every Thursday at Shenzhen International Airport to welcome travelers after their long journeys.

The idea came from Shenzhen Concert Hall in an initiative to try and make travel less stressful for passengers whilst also promoting the venue and classical music among the general public.

A string quartet consisting of violinists Zhang Lei and Zhang He, violinist Wu Xiaodi and cellist Ning Hanqiao will perform popular pieces, such as “Chit-Chat Polka” and “The Blue Danube” by Johann Strauss, Jr.; “Gavotte” by Bach; “Radetzky March” by Johann Strauss; and “Butterfly Lovers”.

If only the scheme had been in place two weeks ago when angry passengers wreaked havoc at the airport after delays and cancellations caused tensions to boil over.
