Seasoned China expat quiz: 1) Those who have guanxi with the zoo admin are selling tiger meat and a certain organ for rmb 50,000. 2) Some Shandong cops and those who have guanxi with them had tiger meat hotpot yesterday evening. Which is more likely?

I am seriously wondering about the background of this story. Lions don't normally attack their breeders if they are treated well (I think). Also why did it take armed police and 6 or 7 shots to kill one lion?

I haven't been to a zoo here recently but I am aware that the animals there are usually not treated very well.
