Lenovo Acquires Motorola for 2.91 Billion USD
Nov 07, 2014 By eChinacities.com

Lenovo’s acquisition of Motorola mobile was finalized on October 30 for 2.91 billion USD. This is not Lenovo’s first success story, as it has successfully acquired IBM PC, and in early October, acquired the IBM X86 server.

Lenovo’s acquisition of Motorola will lead to benefits in three areas; branding, patenting, and European and American high-end markets. The acquisition also means that the company will become the third biggest cell phone manufacturer in the world, following Samsung and Apple.

Currently, Lenovo is ranked first in the global PC market, which is also Lenovo’s biggest source of revenue and profit. In the server market, following the acquisition of IBM X86, Lenovo takes 14% of the world’s market share, second only to Hewlett-Packard and Dell.
