The 11th China (Kunming) International Culture & Tourism Festival (Kunming Carnival) will be held from May 1st to May 3rd. The carnival is jointly organized by the China National Tourism Administration, the provincial government of Yunnan, and the municipal government of Kunming.

This year's carnival has for its theme “Meet and Party in Kunming, Experience the Rainbow of Things that Yunnan has to Offer”. The celebrations this year have also added some of the Brazilian carnival elements. In the three-day celebration, there will be the usual floats parade, with the traditional lengthy banquet set up in the streets, and folk performances at the city square. This year there are also 7 extra festivities that include a car decoration parade, 'shop to your hearts' content' at Kunming Old Street, a road trip from Kunming to Nanning, an international music and gourmet festival, and brilliant Samba performances from a Brazilian troupe.
